Columbia-Staver is ‘The Thermal Management Company’ and in order to design and manufacture the very best solutions, during the early stages of a project the company often utilise detailed Thermal analysis using analytical and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) techniques.

This of course helps Columbia-Stavers customers to reach the optimum Thermal and commercial solution. Enabling them to offer better products to the market.

Columbia-Stavers approach will shorten product development times and reduce development costs ensuring increased revenue and profitability for their customers.

Typical temperature results

Typical temperature results from three separate analysis runs:
– Base line Analysis ( Board with no solution fitted)
– With Aluminium casting material
– With Zinc casting material

When a required thermal solution is complex Columbia-Staver begin by fully understanding the customers challenge. This not only requires a detailed understanding of the mechanical and thermal requirements but also the working environment, the components safe working parameters and of course the commercial constraints.

Thermal Analysis

Solutions may require the use of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and finite element analysis (FEA) software but Columbia-Staver can augment these commercial packages with the use of in house developed spreadsheets and design rules.

Time and money can be saved by performing multiple visualisations and simulations in order to optimise a potential design solution prior to prototype manufacture and empirical testing.
